I was born Lisa Ellen Carroll in Fillmore, Utah on February 28, 1966, 1:13 a.m. (Grandpa’s B-Day was 2/27/1899 - I was his b-day present) My middle name is Ellen after Grandma Carroll. My Parents are Lee Carroll and Beth Lucas. There were only 3 patients in the hospital at that time, mom, an older gentleman and me. Because Grandma Carroll was a nurse in the hospital, I was held and played with all the time. Mom said I was spoiled before I even came home.

I attended elementary school at Sunset View in Provo, Utah; Franklin, also in Provo, and Wilson in Payson, Utah. I attended Payson and Springville Middle School, and went to Payson Jr. High, White Mountain Jr. High in Rock Springs, Wyoming and Steven's Jr. High in Pasco, Washington. I graduated from Pasco Senior High in 1984.

I enjoyed swimming the most. I was involved in FBLA in High School. I wasn’t involved in many other activities.

I went to school to become a legal secretary and have been doing Payroll ever since. The best job is probably Payroll Accountant and College of Eastern Utah, Price, Utah.

We did all of our cleaning on Sunday’s. That was about Mom’s only day off. Sometimes during the winter she would take a couple of days off and we would wash walls and shampoo carpets.

I started working at 14 as a waitress in a truck stop in Wyoming. I got paid very well for a 14-year-old. I helped Mom buy school clothes that year. We moved to Pasco a couple of weeks after Mt. St. Helen erupted. We were there for the second eruption. It was kind of exciting, but nothing like the first eruption.

The first house we lived in, in Pasco was a small 4-bedroom rambler. It was a pretty nice house. Fenced in back yard. The neighborhood was a really nice neighborhood. We then moved to an older home on the east side (not the best part of town, but the rent was good). This house was the neatest house. I would buy one just like it if I could as long as it was energy efficient, with upgraded heat, wiring and windows. It had very high ceilings, with beams, built in drawers in the hallway, large closets, 3 bathrooms, 3 levels - just a really nice old home. We then moved to Salem, Utah. That house was just the typical home, 2 level, 3 bath, 5 bedroom, carport - really nice, but not fancy.

I enjoyed seeing the Queen Mary when I was about 12. I went to Seattle when I was about 16 and went to the Seattle Center. Walla Walla, WA was exciting and seeing the Lewis & Clark Museum. Also seeing the Grand Coulee Dam was very exciting and scary.

I was in American History Class studying Presidents when we heard that President Reagan was shot. I was living in Pasco, WA when Mt. St. Helen erupted the second time (missed the first large eruption). I remember the flooding of Utah in 1983. Losing the town of Thistle in the floods. Watched the space shuttle explosion on TV. I was also very upset when the mine in Emery County caught fire right before a holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas). I wasn’t aware that I would eventually be living in that mining community. I was working at College of Eastern Utah when we received the first female president of a community college in Utah and the first black college president in Utah - President Grace Sawyer Jones. I had co-workers whose husbands, brothers and children worked in Willow Creek Mine when it exploded in July 2000.

The most significant changes I’ve seen in my lifetime have been in technology - computers, phones and microwaves. There have been many medical advances, also. I remember the first artificial heart.

I am LDS, born into the faith. The thing I like about it the most is the secure feelings I have when attending church and church activities. I dislike not drinking Ice Tea to be Temple worthy. The most awe-inspiring moment was my visit to the Celestial Room of the Temple. I love the complete peace and security that you feel in the Temple. My proudest moments have been when my children were blessed and baptized.  One of the hardest things for me to learn is that I cannot judge others, they have to answer for their own actions. I only need to be concerned with my own actions and choices.

I married Clint Sherman (b. 2/24/61) on July 14, 1990 and moved to Cleveland, Utah. The home we picked was for the price but decided to stay. It is a very small 2 level 2 official bedroom (w/ family room & den that are used for bedrooms). We have done some remodeling and plan to do more. We got a very good deal on it and have a lot of equity so that is the reason we will keep it. With 3 kids, it is quite cozy.

My daughter, BreAnna Lilly Carroll "Sherman" was born when I was only 17 years old. She was due on Thanksgiving 1983 - but didn’t make it here until December 13, 1983. She was born in a women’s clinic in Kennewick, Washington. A Certified Nurse Midwife delivered her. I was home 2 hours after I had her. She was a true blessing that really changed my life. She has been a complete joy to me. Her first name was one that I always liked. I did the spelling my own way because I didn’t care for the way it was spelled in the baby books. Her middle name comes from my maternal grandmother. Lilly is her middle name and BreAnna is her first Great Grandchild. Currently her legal last name is Carroll but when she is 18 (less than 2 years away) we will be changing her name to Sherman which is the name she goes by. BreAnna has always known that she is the center of most people’s lives. She is very self confident and has been a grown up since she was born. She was usually a happy child, but she could throw some of the best temper tantrums. She has always been very well behaved when shopping (her favorite thing) and I have always said that even at a very small age, I could take her to a china shop and not worry about her touching anything or breaking anything.

Cole Edward Sherman is my husband’s oldest child. He has a wonderful personality and is a very hard worker (but you have to ask him to work first). Cole’s middle name is from his father. Cole has lived with his mother up until June 2000, just before he turned 15, and he came to live with us. He is struggling w/ some personal issues and school but is making wonderful progress. He will be a wonderful adult.

Chase Edward Sherman is my baby - always will be. Yes another Edward. Clint and I agreed on the name - the name Chase scared me because all of the Chases that I knew fully lived up to their name. Clint thought it would be funny/different having two boys with the same middle name. We compromised - he chose the first name, I chose the middle name. It was more important to me to have his middle name be Edward than what his first name was. Edward is for two reasons - it is a family name in Clint’s family and because of Grandpa Carroll. I was named after Grandma Carroll and I needed my son named after him also. Yes, Chase has lived up to his name. He has absolutely no fear. He is very happy, easy going and carefree. He is extremely tender hearted and admires his dad and adores his mom.
