Sergeant Carroll was born on 25 June 1969, in Provo, Utah. to Lee Carroll and Beth Lucas. HE graduated from Spanish Fork High School, Spanish Fork, Utah in 1987. With a grade point average of 3.185 also won the Marketing award for outstanding achievement in job marketing research skills. He was employed at Powder River Livestock Company in Provo, Utah. There he supervised 16 personnel on shear, presses and punches.
Sergeant Carroll enlisted in the United States Air Force in April 1989. After basic training, he attended the Aerospace Ground Equipment technical training school at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. His first assignment was to Teagu, Korea as an AGE repairman from Oct 1989 to Jul 1990. When the base closed, he was reassigned to Cannon AFB, New Mexico.
He was awarded his five skill level in Nov 90. While at Cannon AFB, he directly supported F-111 aircraft deployments to Fighter Weapons Instructor Class, Green Flag, Red Flag, Nellis AFB, Nevada, Maple Flag, Cold Lake Canada; and OPERATION PROVIDE COMFORT III, Incirlic, Turkey. He completed Airman Leadership and seven level schools. In 1998 he was reassigned to Luke AFB, Arizona as an AGE craftsman. He won maintenance professional of the quarter, NCO of the quarter and NCO of the year 1999 for the 56th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. He is also one of the General Leo Marquise winners from Luke AFB. He was given a line number for the rank of Technical Sergeant in June 2000.
Sergeant Carroll’s awards and military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with bronze star. Sergeant Carroll’s hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and mountain bike riding.
